First of all I can't believe I even have time to write anything this week at all. Let's just start off with the kids first week of school. They both love their teachers which I think makes all the difference. However I think the curriculum is a little too easy this year for both of them. And I think they might get bored. The more I learn about curriculum, state laws, and the "no child left behind" act(don't even get me started on this one)the more frustrated I get with the states curriculum and the more I think I don't want to be a teacher but rather some one on a bored of something to do something about it. Anyway off subject....I am Preston's room mom this year and I will also be teaching the new art program "art though the age's" in his class this year. I sadly won't be in Hannah's as much as I would like. We went to back to school night this week and met the teacher's and said hello to Mr Jameson the principle whom I know very well for all the wrong reasons. The kids seem to know the routine really well and are well adjusted.
Chloe loves day care at the U of U. After I pry her off of me screaming in the morning she seems to do fine five minutes after I leave. Her potty training is going really well. And the teacher's can't believe how advanced she is for having just turned 2 in July. At home she is singing songs she has learned and she acts out all the games they do. She goes around the house calling everyone kids. Which I am sure that is what her teacher does. "Hey kids look at this" she will say.
I on the other hand had a very interesting week. My first class is yoga and of coarse I LOVE IT!! I love the fact that there is such a mix of people in there. Not just women. But guys and even the U foot ball players. Its so fun and my teacher is such a hoot....and a real tree hugger. I mean the no shaving kind of girl. She is awesome and she asked me to be the "advanced" example of the class today. I even have my own locker like gym class in high school with a lock and everything. I had to ask someone how to use it. I mean come on its been....well umm...long time since I used a pad lock. One turn to the right skip the 2nd number back to the left and stop at the third. After yoga I head off the my diversity class. My professor is so fascinating. She is the perfect person to teach a diversity class. She grew up an "army brat" so she has been to lots of schools all over the world. She got her masters at the University of New Mexico and has taught all grades and subjects all over the world as well. She settled in Utah to help the Native Americans on the reservations fight for the rights of a good education so they are able to apply to university's like the rest of us. It is a very interesting class and I am excited to learn from someone like her. Then I am off to math class. The first day I couldn't find it and then when I finally did its in one of those big stadium seating class where the chalk bordes slide up and down the wall because its is 15 feet high. There are 230 kids in this class. So much for getting to know anyone or even the teacher. Well enough is enough....time to get back to my home work!!
