1st day of school

I can't believe I have a fourth grader and a sixth grader already. They looked so cute in their "goth/emo" attire as they got ready this morning. It funny cause if any of you reading this knew me at that age I was the same way. I haven't influenced either of them either. But I was not so popular at that age when I dressed that way. Luckily Preston is. He has so many people that think he is so cool I have a hard time keeping up with him. I was so nervous about him starting this year because of the year he had last year. Luckily he has a good teacher. He is the only guy in the whole school. Preston was freaking out when he found out he got him and his best friend was not in his class. But the first thing he said to me today was "Mr Bloom is so funny and so cool." I think Preston has met his match when it comes to making the class laugh. Hannah has a good teacher also. But I never worry about her. She is always the teacher's favorite student. And I am not just saying that because she is my child. She seriously is the top of her class every year and she is the best behaved in all her years. I don't have to worry about her too much. But she likes me to be her room mom every year. I am usually her room mom and I will do all my own class projects assigned by my teacher's in Preston's class. Since I want to teach fifth or sixth grade I graduate. So I use his classes to do my observations.

All in all I think it will be a good year. Chloe and I head up to the U of U for our first day of school tomorrow. I am a little more nervous for that then I was today for the 2 older ones. Chloe has never been in a day care and I have never had so many credits with college algebra being one of them.....wish us luck!!

Getting back into it

Well I went back up to the U campus today to get my books find my classes and find a dang parking lot that I will be able to use, park in no matter what time of day, and get to class on time. You would only know what I was talking about if you tried to park up there and get to class on time. It was actually Chloe's day care orientation this morning. She is going to the child care center at the U while I am in class. I am so grateful she got in this year. I didn't get her in last year because the demand is so high for that center I had to registrar her in January for a spot this fall. It is such a great center and all the teachers already have their BA or BS in child development. So they know how to handle a class of 12 2 year olds. Half potty trained, half being potty trained. I dropped her off in her class room today and went up stairs to the parent meeting. I really expected her to cry when I left but all she said was "bye bye mommy, see ya later." I guess taking her to the gym day care in the mornings was kinda a trail for her to get use to being dropped off at a day care center. I am so excited for her to be there. Even though she is only 2 I think it will be a great learning experience for her. I on the other hand am nervous as heck to get back into the study habits. I have more credits this semester than I ever have had. And they include math, chemistry, and history!! UGG! I have loved school so far but the first semester I found myself just staring(particularly at my math book) and either crying a little, or hyperventilating. My brain just doesn't work that well anymore. After having three kids and going though a divorce its packed full of all sorts of crap I don't need. I do take class a lot more seriously than I did in high school though. I have been able to maintain a 3.5 GPA thus far. So its time to get back into this thing we call school. I am excited for all of us and a bit nervous also. My blogs may dwindle down to once a week rather than once a day...well almost!!

Shakespearean Festival and Red Canyon B&B

Dan and I went on our very first ever weekend away in three years with no kids!! I know its hard to believe but we love taking the kids with us way too much. We went down to Cedar City and saw the Shakespearean Festival. We saw The Taming of the Shrew. I played the Shrew or Kate in high school so it was so fun to see this play. They put a twist on it and set it in the 20's and in Italy. It was so funny and what great acting. It makes me want to act again so badly. We also stayed at the Red Canyon Lodge bed and breakfast. I wasn't sure about a B&B. We have never stayed in one before. But after staying there I will have a hard time staying in a hotel ever again. Ken and Pat the Inn Keepers, treat you like you are their family. It was like staying at home away from home in the middle of the mountains. The rooms were big and themed in a very cute way. And you wake up to this yummy breakfast cooked by some one else and then they clean up after you. I wouldn't know what that is like at all. We will stay there again. If you ever go to Cedar City and need to stay somewhere, stay there. After our scrumptious breakfast we went hiking through Cedar Breaks. It was so pretty and the temp was only about 65 degrees. Well I guess Dan and I have decided we still like each other enough to still get married next year. Its hard to spend any time together when we are raising three kids, his job, and my schooling. It was a weekend that didn't come soon enough.

End of summer slide show

This is my end of the summer slide show. It consist of all the fun things we did this last week of summer. It includes Dan's BD summer work part where Chloe rode the ponies, the train and ate cotton candy. It is also of all the kids coming over to swim in our pool and eating popsicles, going to classic water slides with cousins, and going to the Thanksgiving point gardens. It also has pictures of my surprise day at Lagoon. I took just Preston and Hannah for the day. It was fun to take them because they didn't think they were going this year. Once again so long summer.....Its a bitter sweet goodbye to a memorial year!

So long summer!!

I cannot believe that school starts in less than two weeks. The summer just flew by. We are ready though...I think. Its time to start back on our schedule of waking up at 7:00 am and to bed by 9:00 pm. Right now we are going to bed at 11:00 pm sometimes midnight and waking up at 8:30 or 9:00. That is not the only thing that is going to be a challenge as the school year starts. Homework will be big challenge for me and the kids. I am taking 15 credits this semester. The most I have ever taken. This includes math, chemistry, history, and diversity!!! I hope I can do it. I hope I can manage my stuff and the kids at the same time this year. Last year was a HUGE challenge for Preston. Not only was his behavior a problem but he failed almost everything which he has never done. AHHAHA!!! I hope his last year of elementary is better than last year. I am glad all the sixth grade teacher are veterans. I think the fact that Preston had a brand new teacher last year didn't help. He has been in counseling all summer and I think it has helped him. Its been hard for him since his dad re-married the evil step mom. (no really she is).

Well school shopping is finished and I think we are ready for the year to begin. We are saying so long to summer by going to Lagoon today. I surprised the kids with this. We were not going to go because we have done SO MUCH this year. But that is what free tickets are for and the only reason I am taking them. Well so long summer......its so sad to say...but I am ready for fall!!

Millcreek Inn

Dan and I went up to The Millcreek Inn on Saturday to see if it is the right place to get married. I have been to a wedding there before so I knew what it looked like. But when we went up there to look around and price everything I knew it was the right pace to get married. It is very cozy and small there. Its like a little cottage in the middle of our favorite canyon. We want to keep the wedding very small and simple anyway and this place will July 2nd 2009. We also decided to have it in the morning. Its a little less and we love the mornings. I know its a year away but I like the fact that I have this much time to plan it right this time. It will be such a wonderful day. And I can't wait to become Monica Roman most of all....

Cherishing my kids

Preston and Hannah went to stay with their dad for the month of August. If your not familiar with divorce decrees with custody issues in them, the non-custodial parent get 2 weeks uninterrupted time with the kids and 2 weeks with the custodial parent taking them over the weekend. I have been divorced from Dewy for 3 years and this is the 1st summer he has requested to use this. I guess its a good thing if he was doing it for all the right reasons. But he is doing it just to spite me because of our last battle in court last fall. Well this post isn't about bashing my ex....its about how crazy I am going without them here. People would think it would be nice to have a break from kids for that long. I however, love having all my kids with me most of the time. Chloe is a bit confused and keeps saying that Hannah and Preston are sleeping still. This will be hard for her to understand as she gets older. Its hard for me to understand and I am 31! I guess this is the only good thing about having him live in the same neighbor hood because they have come over a few times to get things and give me a hug. But it is not the same as being able to tuck them in a night, cooking them dinner, making lunch or breakfast for them. I guess its the little things I enjoy as a mom. They are getting so big they are starting to do most everything for themselves but I still try to "baby" them when they let me. I am glad Chloe is still little and dependant on me and I am glad we are not done having kids. It keeps me in the mommy business a bit longer. I am so grateful they still loved to be tucked in at night. I cherish this night time routine we have had since...forever. I always tell people that have new born babies that still keep them up at night to cherish the time they get to hold them and rock them even if it is at 2,3,4,and 5 in the morning. I know I did with Chloe. They sleep through the night soon enough. And pretty soon they don't need you anymore at night...well when they don't have night meres anymore, get a fever in the middle of the night, or stop wetting the bed(I won 't say which one did this)It just makes me soooo grateful for the time I have with them. Its so hard to turn them over to Dewy even every other weekend. If you don't know why we divorced then I think it would be hard for you to really understand that. Lets just say....he is one person in the world who I don't trust and am afraid of at the same time. Try turning your kids over to someone who you feel that way about. And don't forget to tuck your kids in EVERY SINGLE NIGHT!!

Potty Training 101

So I went to Walmart to stock up on some underwear and socks for the kids. Hannah and I went to go pick out some underwear for her and we kept saying "do you like these underwear or these underwear". Then all the sudden Chloe yells "I WANT UNDERWEAR TOO!!" We all know how demanding 2 year old are...if you have had one anyway...so anyway...we decide to go get some training underwear for her. Ever since she has seen her cousin Tanner being potty trained she has wanted to go. I was not ready to potty train her yet. But hey why not if she is ready and is yelling it in the middle of Walmart. So back to the baby section we go. We find some underwear small enough to fit her tiny little bum. And Hannah picks out this cute pink potty. We get it home, open it and Chloe is ripping off her diaper and runs up to her new potty and goes #1 and #2(don't want to be too graphic). Well then its off with the diaper and on with the underwear. However Dan and I were due to leave for a date in 2 hours and I didn't want to leave her in underwear with the babysitter. So I tried to put the diaper back on...OH NO!! She was not having that. "No diaper...want white underwear!!" She screams over and over. My niece Mekenzie was the sitter so she said she would just take her potty. Well we all know how 17 year old are...if you have had one, or were one. We were sitting in the movie and Kenz texts me..."she pooped and peed all over the place". She forgot she was wearing underwear. Luckily she was able to get the diaper on her before bed time. And today she is in underwear again and has only had 1 accident. I really wasn't planning on potty training her yet. And Dan is a little sad our baby isn't a baby anymore. But at least I don't have to buy diapers anymore. Too bad I just bought a box at Costco!!!
