along with my own thoughts....scary!! I almost didn't want to drive to be over. When I finally got to the town I went and found the studio I need to find in the morning that I will be spending the next 20 hours of my weekend. Off to the hotel. I was so flustered with SO here I am in Pocatello ID looking forward to a day of nothing but yoga. I was so anxious to leave yesterday I think packing was the first thing I did when I woke up. The three hour drive up here I kept getting butterflies in my stomach. I think they were either for the fact that I was so excited for this weekend to FINALLY come or I was nervous about leaving my family alone for a weekend. This is the first time I have left Chloe for more than one night. Preston and Hannah were going to their dad's anyway so it was like I wasn't even going anywhere. Well the drive up here I cranked all my old favorite Cd's that I don't get to listen to anymore. I had my favorite candy next to me that I didn't have to share. And I was left alone with those two stimuliexcitement I kept dropping everything and didn' t know where to begin. I found my room and watched a silly movie on comedy central. I took my a long time to fall asleep with all the new sounds and Dan not next to me. As I dozed off (a few times) I am awoken by kids screaming and running down the hall at midnight. I was thinking to myself "didn't I leave my kids at home"? Finally off to sleep and up bright and early to get to the studio. I am trying to force myself to eat this high protein breakfast to get me through my intense 10 hour yoga training today. I did after all order a 16$ room service breakfast :)!! Well that is day one. I will see how today goes and if I don't pass out from exhaustion I will blog about it!! NAMASTE'

Mom to Mom hair by my little sis Kellee
Mom to Mom Hair
I am a licensed hairstylist that will come to you for all your hair care needs. I have been doing hair for 5 years now and I absolutely love it! I have worked in 2 salons and along the way have had 3 children that have put the salon work on hold. I have been a stay at home mom since my oldest, Kaden, was born in 2005. I then had another boy in February of 2007 and most recently a baby girl last June. I have been doing hair out of my home for 3 years and now I am trying to make it easier and affordable for moms, like me, to get their hair done and look as beautiful as ever. I know from experience that we moms do not have alot of time to get to the salon like we would want to. I love going to relax, but that may only happen once or twice a year. So hear I am to make your life a little easier.
The best way for me to be successful is advertising and word of mouth. I am doing pretty good so far since I started 2 weeks ago. I want to let everyone know that I am going to be doing waxing and pedicures, also. I know you want your feet to look good for your new summer sandals!! I am running a special on pedicures. For your first pedicure I am only charging $15. I can come to your house or you can come to mine. Whatever you want. I do all peppermint products for your feet so they will feel refreshed and look great! I am also doing a eye and lip wax special. $20 for both. I know you can go to a Great Clips or somewhere cheap like that, but I am all about quality not quantity. They want to get you in and out as fast as they can. I want you to be happy and feel good about yourself when I am done. I encourage all of my clients to please let me know if there is anything I can do better to accomplish that. I love this industry and it is one of my biggest passions. Its not every day that you find someone that loves what they do. Please call me at 801-635-9687! Thank you and have a great day.

Wheeler Farm
I spent the day with my little sister Kellee and her 3 cute babies. It was a great time to visit the farm because all the female animals were pregnant with babies and the ducks and geese were every where making a stop during their migration. Here is a slide show of Chloe, Ryker, Kaden, and Emree and all the animals....

My Latest ADHD Findings....What's Missing In Your Child's ADD/ADHD Diet?
Finding foods that support your child's growth and development, enable him to stay focused in school, and tempt his appetite is challenging enough for any parent. But add attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)/attention deficit disorder (ADD) to the mix, and you have a dilemma that requires some serious quiet time. However, it's theorized that some foods can essentially have the same effect that drugs have on behavior. For example, think of the typical post-coffee-and-doughnut energy crash. Although experts disagree on the extent to which dietary changes work in treating ADHD, incorporating the following strategies into your kid's daily food choices may help control his or her ADD/ADHD behavior.
Children who have ADD/ADHD need to nosh on the right foods (complex carbohydrates and protein) at the right times (every three to five hours). "Every meal should have some protein: fish, poultry, meat, eggs, beans, nuts, or dairy (only if your child can tolerate it), " says Dana Laake, RDH, MS, co-author of The Kid-Friendly ADHD & Autism Cookbook. So instead of carbo-loading your child at breakfast (think waffles drowned in syrup), send him to school on a couple of hard-boiled eggs and a banana, or granola mixed with plain yogurt. The combination of protein and fiber-rich carbohydrates will help him stay more focused all morning long.
Consuming too many processed or refined foods or beverages can interfere with your child's ability to get and maintain adequate stores of magnesium. This is important because some studies have suggested a link in children between ADHD-like symptoms including hyperactivity, restlessness and irritability, and a deficiency of this important mineral. To make sure your ADD/ADHD child's magnesium levels are up to snuff, trade in salty potato chips, pretzels, and other processed snacks for dark green leafy vegetables, nuts, and fortified breakfast cereals. "This is not a license to go out and buy magnesium supplements since there's an upper tolerable limit for magnesium (11 mg for children ages 4 to 8)," says Roberta Anding, M.S., R.D., clinical dietitian at Texas Children's Hospital. "Stick with magnesium-rich leafy greens instead."
Several studies report that children with ADD/ADHD are deficient in essential fatty acids like omega-3s, found in oily fish such as salmon, and that their attention deficit symptoms diminish following supplementation with these nutrients. Researchers think these powerful fatty acids lubricate the pathway to the brain so nerve cells can communicate properly. In fact, omega-3s are so essential to brain development and functioning that scientists speculate they have powerful, positive effects on behavior, learning, and mood. But like magnesium, parents should be careful with supplementation. "Fish oil should be treated like a drug,"" says Anding. ""It can contribute to problems with blood clotting, platelet aggregation and other issues, so it's important to take it under the supervision of a physician."
Studies show that nutrients such as vitamin C (found in citrus fruits, broccoli, and bell peppers) and the B complex vitamins (found in whole grains, leafy greens, nuts, dairy products, and eggs) may also help ease symptoms of ADD/ADHD, thanks to their soothing effects on the brain. To meet your child's daily quota, sneak vegetables in wherever you can (think pineapple and banana smoothies blended with spinach). ""They'll taste the overpowering sweet taste of the fruit while the vegetables just kind of blend into the background,"" says Anding. The only caveat: You should serve the beverage in colored plastic glasses (not transparent) so your child won't pick up on the unappetizing color.

The Power of Yoga
I just got my manual for my yoga conference on March 28th and felt compelled to do another post about yoga. Yes I am headed to Pocatello Idaho at the end of March to complete my certification so I can take on my first position as a yoga instructor this fall at the University of Utah Sandy campus this fall. I was offered the position by a fellow yogi in my current yoga class. So I wanted to post an article about the power of yoga. Not only is it a great work out but so much more. Ever since I began practicing(8 years ago) I have reduced my body pain that I was feeling on a daily bases by %100!! The only time I feel my leg and back pain is when I take more than three weeks off from practicing. Which only happens rarely. So here is my little inspiration of yoga for this month. I am trying to get better about posting inspirational yoga posts more often!!!
How Yoga Calms the Mind and Body
What's the difference between a cheerleader and a yogi practicing backbends and splits? From a distance, the two would appear to be doing the same thing. But if you looked a bit closer, you might notice that the yogi is breathing more smoothly, slower, and more evenly. You might even observe that while the cheerleader is looking around, smiling at everyone, the yogi's face is relaxed and his or her gaze is focused. While externally the differences between the yogi and the cheerleader may seem slight, the internal differences are significant.

Most yoga classes in the West focus exclusively on asana, the physical postures of yoga. While it's a good thing to stretch and tone, it's an even better thing to stretch and tone while slowing down the breath and incorporating other yogic meditation techniques. One such technique is the use of drishti, focusing the gaze, which helps to quiet the mind. When the gaze is fixed on a single point, the mind is less likely to be distracted by thoughts provided by visual stimuli (the carpet in here is ugly . . . I can't believe that guy is wearing those pants...). These thoughts distract and pollute the mind, causing it to constantly churn and fluctuate.
Yoga is famous for its ability to heal and bring peace of mind. But how does the practice of yoga accomplish this?
There are two nervous systems in the human body: sympathetic and parasympathetic. The sympathetic, commonly known as the "fight or flight" system, causes the blood pressure to rise, the breath rate to quicken, and stress hormones to flood into the body. Historically, this occurred to prepare the body for fighting dangerous animals. But in today's world, we experience this response while we are sitting in traffic or feeling stressed at the office. When this system is overly stimulated, we can experience health consequences such as ulcers, migraines, and heart disease.
The parasympathetic nervous system lowers blood pressure and slows the pace of the breath. When the blood no longer has to rush to the muscles, it is free to travel to the digestive, reproductive, glandular, and immune systems - systems made up of organs that are more necessary to long-term survival. The body now has time to heal the damage accumulated during our daily battles. Studies have shown that long, deep breathing encourages the actions of the parasympathetic nervous system and allows relaxation and healing to occur. The yogi practices breathing meditations called pranayama, which encourage the actions of the parasympathetic nervous system.
So while the yogi and the cheerleader both gain strength and flexibility from practicing backbends and splits, the yogi is able to reap additional health rewards from the addition of pranayama. But even more is happening within the yogi. The yogi is working to calm the fluctuations of the mind.
Try this little exercise: take a break from reading this article and spend the next five minutes concentrating on the breath and nothing else.
You probably discovered that your mind wants to think about everything but the breath. Our minds have a tendency to wander, to disconnect from our bodies, to daydream and fret about the future, to reminisce and stew over the past. Humans have evolved the ability to automatically breathe even while sleeping. While breathing does not require conscious awareness, focusing your attention on your breath will force you to focus on what's happening right now, at this very moment. Focusing on your breath doesn't allow your conscious mind to drift away, but encourages it to stay connected in your body and in the now.
But why shouldn't we allow ourselves to daydream or reminisce, it seems harmless? Well, frequently when we are reminiscing about the good old times we begin fear to these events won't occur again. The more time we spend in reverie, the less open we are to the good things that are happening right now. Often, even when we are the midst of a good time, we begin to worry about it ending and start plotting to make it happen again. We miss out on embracing the moment fully while it is unfolding. And while having goals in life is a good thing, spending hours daydreaming won't get you any closer to making your dreams come true. Being lost in fantasy can often lead to disappointment when reality hits.
The quality of the breath reflects the quality of the mind. There is a connection between our mental, emotional, and psychological states and the pace and depth of our breath. For example, when we are frightened, we take short, quick, shallow breaths. When we are deeply relaxed or asleep, we take long, deep breaths.
While our mental state influences our breathing pattern, we can choose to change our breathing pattern and thereby change our mental state. When you relax and slow the pace of the breath, the pace of the mind is similarly calmed and quieted. Over time, you begin to act and think from a state of peace. The more time you spend in this place, the more likely you are to act with patience, understanding, and compassion.
The breath also helps us to stay connected to the present moment. Staying in the now frees us. We can move on from past grievances and sorrows and can view the world as it really is, without false expectations. We learn to accept ourselves and others as we and they currently are. Being in the moment allows you to be fully present when you spend time with the people you love.
Our mood is also affected by how we feel physically. Ever try to be friendly when you have a stomach ache? Asana helps to keep our muscles, joints, and fascia strong and flexible. The practice of asana also helps reduce blood pressure, stimulate the immune and glandular systems, reduce insomnia, and heal the body in innumerable other ways.
The simple practices of asana (yoga postures), pranayama (breathing), and drishti (focusing) lead the yoga practitioner to not only a state of optimal physical health, but to a state of peace. These practices help to connect you to the present moment, to others and to your true self.

Final Wedding Details
Holy cow!! The whole reason for us not to have a big wedding is because I didn't want to deal with the stress of planning it. We wanted it to be a day to celebrate US!! Thus the reason for us eloping. We made the announcement in our Christmas letter last year. It was mixed feelings from family members all around. With this being Dan's first marriage I wanted to make sure he didn't mind not having a real wedding. Well you know men...especially when the fact that we are paying for everything ourselves comes into play. He was more than OK with our eloping plans. So we decided on Mexico at first. And after me pouting a little we changed it to Hawaii and after we looked at our budget for the year we changed it back to Mexico. Then this whole drug lords take over thing comes up...and I am just paranoid as it is. Being a mother I take extra precautions making sure I return home to my kids. Then I am so back and forth on eloping at all after we went to Jan and Tresa's beautiful wedding in Denver. And listening to the plans my future sister in law Elizabeth is making for her and Mike's wedding(another brother...yes all three getting married in 2009) I was wondering if we should do a wedding also. But after talking to various family members and friends I was told we should do what we want to do. And because of the fact that I post everything I do on Facebook (that is a lot of "ands") an old friend from high school that lives in Colorado suggests Estes Park, CO as a wonderful B&B to elope to. She sends me a web site of one that a friend of hers went to and I fell in love with it. We are getting married there and staying there for our honeymoon as well. Its hidden in the mountains and it will be perfect. I just booked it today and I am so excited its finalize. I do have a few or 10 minor details to look into before July 2ND, but I finally feel as though this is what we are meant to do. We still haven't decided whether or not to have a reception when we return. So if your Dan's family and you are reading this shoot me an email or leave a comment as to whether you would actually come this far for a reception. I attached the web site of the Inn and here are some pictures of it. http://www.mycoloradowedding.com/
