Holy cow!! The whole reason for us not to have a big wedding is because I didn't want to deal with the stress of planning it. We wanted it to be a day to celebrate US!! Thus the reason for us eloping. We made the announcement in our Christmas letter last year. It was mixed feelings from family members all around. With this being Dan's first marriage I wanted to make sure he didn't mind not having a real wedding. Well you know men...especially when the fact that we are paying for everything ourselves comes into play. He was more than OK with our eloping plans. So we decided on Mexico at first. And after me pouting a little we changed it to Hawaii and after we looked at our budget for the year we changed it back to Mexico. Then this whole drug lords take over thing comes up...and I am just paranoid as it is. Being a mother I take extra precautions making sure I return home to my kids. Then I am so back and forth on eloping at all after we went to Jan and Tresa's beautiful wedding in Denver. And listening to the plans my future sister in law Elizabeth is making for her and Mike's wedding(another brother...yes all three getting married in 2009) I was wondering if we should do a wedding also. But after talking to various family members and friends I was told we should do what we want to do. And because of the fact that I post everything I do on Facebook (that is a lot of "ands") an old friend from high school that lives in Colorado suggests Estes Park, CO as a wonderful B&B to elope to. She sends me a web site of one that a friend of hers went to and I fell in love with it. We are getting married there and staying there for our honeymoon as well. Its hidden in the mountains and it will be perfect. I just booked it today and I am so excited its finalize. I do have a few or 10 minor details to look into before July 2ND, but I finally feel as though this is what we are meant to do. We still haven't decided whether or not to have a reception when we return. So if your Dan's family and you are reading this shoot me an email or leave a comment as to whether you would actually come this far for a reception. I attached the web site of the Inn and here are some pictures of it. http://www.mycoloradowedding.com/

If I had it to do over again, I'd elope, without question. Congrats!
Eloping was the greatest thing we did for us. I have mixed feeling about the reception as well. Mine was fine, but if I had to do it again, I think I would have opted not to do it. The gifts were great, but I hated feeling like I had to please others. But for family sake, we did it! And thankfully it's 10 years past!
Good luck with whatever you decide. And let me know what I can do to help.
