Raging Waters Ducky Derby

On Thursday the Girl Scouts of Utah had a day at Raging waters to help raise money for girls who have a hard time paying for girl scouts activities. They did a ducky derby race down the lazy river. We didn't win anything but they day was relaxing and I was just happy the sun was out...well for most of the day. What a fun week this was!

Going to the Zoo Zoo Zoo

On Tuesday I took my kids along with our neighbors to the zoo. Our neighbors have become such good friend of ours and we just recently found out they are moving to Alaska on July 15th. So we are trying to do as much as we can with them. Hannah and Madi have become best friends. They both love animals and had to take 10 pictures of every animal. Chloe still didn't seem very interested in the animals. And Preston and his cousin Jake were just checking out all the cute girls. All in all it was a fun day...gotta love the zoo!

WHAT!!! 15 DAYS!!

I just noticed our count down calendar said 15 days until the wedding. Oh yes I am excited to become a Roman, but 15 DAYS! We have been very sick in our house with sinus infections(Dan's first one...I think he is stressed out) and ear aches and phenomena (well the start of it but we got it in time....poor Chloe) Hannah is the only one that hasn't got it and that is because she is always next door at the neighbors house, that I think just adopted her. We just ordered Dan's ring so I hope it gets here in time. He still doesn't know what he is wearing....I guess I am going shopping this weekend. I have had sorta mixed feelings about eloping, but now that it is this close...I am super happy we are doing it this way. We have an amazing photographer so we will send out lots of pictures to family and friends of this special day we are keeping all to our selves. Dan is headed to Mexico on the 27th with his buddies, and I am spending the day at the spa that day getting EVERYTHING done. I will also be spending that night with my girl friends. Then we are leaving the 1st and driving all the way. I don't think we have spent that much time in the car without all the kids ever before. Hopefully we still like each other when we get to Estes Park. We (or I) will update everyone on anything else we may think of before our big day!! Keep your eyes posted for our announcements we will send out when we get back. If we don't have your address and you would like one...send me an email!!

Kundalini Yoga - Awakening the Kundalini Energy

I have been studying a new type of yoga called Kundalin. I am excited for the information that I am finding on this new style of yoga and can't wait to teach it in my classes!!
Kundalini Yoga Kundalini Yoga

is a style of Yoga that concentrates on the awakening of the
energy that is found at the base of our spine. For that reason, Kundalini Yoga is said to be the most powerful form of Yoga known today. This energy is said to take the form of a coiled snake, hence the name "kundalini", which is Sanskrit for "coiled up". The goal of Kundalini Yoga is to awaken this "snake" and send it moving up your spine all the way to your brain, which is believed to result in a sublime state of ecstasy and awareness.

Kundalini Yoga was introduced to the West by Yogi Bhajan in 1969. The practice of Kundalini Yoga includes Yoga Poses and Meditation, but focuses more on Chanting or Mantra and Pranayama.

Once the Kundalini (the energy in the form of a snake) is awakened, it passes through the different Chakras, or centers of consciousness, that are thought to reside in the human body. There are a total of seven chakras, each providing a certain power or experience when stimulated. For more information, read our section on the Seven Chakras.

To understand the movement of Kundalini better, you must have adequate knowledge of the Nervous System, particularly the spinal cord. This is because the Seven Chakras are believed to be found in this area of the body.

So how can the Kundalini in your body be awakened? This can be done through:

  • the practice of Asanas, Pranayama, and Mantras
  • concentration and training of the mind
  • the practice of Hatha Yoga, Bhakta Yoga, and Jnana Yoga
  • selflessness and intellectual inquiry
  • the help of a guru
Of the above mentioned methods, the last one is said to be the most important. Trying to awaken your Kundalini by force and without the aid of a guru can be dangerous. This can result in some symptoms such as:

  • mental confusion
  • headache or the feeling of something heavy in your head
  • psychosis
  • intense mood swings
  • epilepsy or other involuntary body movements
  • stress
  • depression
  • irregular breathing
  • immoral behavior
Therefore, the Kundalini must never be awakened by force. Like a real snake, it can and will strike you if you provoke it. And like a professional snake handler, the guru will guide you on how to tame this snake and deal with it properly.

Actually, awakening your Kundalini should not take a lot of effort. The only things you need are patience, perseverance, and devotion to your practice. Once it is awakened, you will feel various pleasurable and less pleasurable experiences. The pleasant ones may be tickling sensations along the Spinal Cord, bursts of joy, and even transcendental visions. The less enjoyable kind may come in the form of trembling, waves of heat, pains in the areas of the different Chakras, tingling sensations and nervousness. Some yogis say that an awakened Kundalini is the beginning of the path leading to Enlightenment.

Perhaps it is because of the things mentioned here that Kundalini Yoga has come to be called the most powerful Yoga ever known. Some even call it as the mother of all Styles of Yoga. Its effects can be very powerful and beneficial, but can also be vicious if not handled correctly.

Bradford Adam Beesley

Bradford Adam Beesley 'Buford' Our kind, thoughtful, loving son, brother, husband and father returned home to his Heavenly Father June 2, 2009. Bradford was born August 8, 1974 in Salt Lake City to Brad and Patty Beesley. Bradford was a devoted, caring father to his three sons and daughter. Our big brother was an amazing protector, our foundation and example for good. He guided us through life's experiences and was always there to help us. Brad graduated from Jordan High in 1993 and the U of U in 2000. Faithfully he served an LDS mission in Pittsburg, PA and in various church callings. Brad was an Eagle Scout. He was always looking for ways to help others and was a faithful friend. On August 27, 1997 he married Shannon Pendelton in the Salt Lake Temple. Bradford was a hardworking, successful business man who helped to grow his family's business, Back to Basics. He was the driving force in acquiring a new company, Candle Warmers Etc. He loved working with his brothers, brother-in-law and sister in growing the new family business together. Bradford's joy was his family and he provided well for them. He adored his little boys, Sam and Jack. They were truly his 'buddies'. He dearly missed his eldest son Bradford Ethan. Bradford definitely had a soft spot for his sweet baby girl, Brynn. She was daddy's little girl, his princess. His happiest moments were with his wife and kids taking trips to the bookstore, dad's and donut's, bike riding, movies, motorcycle riding, IHOP, many exploring adventures at the cabin and singing the "Beesley Boys" song. Besides his family, golfing and reading were his passions. His mother taught him the joy of reading. He won a contest for reading 100 books in second grade. He loved going to the gym with his brothers and sister and delighted in winning the "muscle contest". He was so considerate and sensitive to his mom and two sisters. All of his nieces and nephews loved their Uncle Brad. He spent hours wrestling with the boys and giving kisses and hugs to the girls. BRADFORD, WE WILL FOREVER MISS YOU IN OUR "BEES SQUEEZE." Will be missed by his sweetheart Shannon, sons Samuel Ethan, Jackson Adam, and daughter Brynn Leah, his parents Brad and Patty Beesley, grandmother Hanna Beesley, siblings Brian K. Hannah's visit to the Governor

Hannah and her fourth grade class took a field trip to the capitol where they got to meet Governor Huntsman and ask him questions. They posted the pictures on a web site. She thought it was so cool that she got to meet the governor and was on the internet...
